The United Democratic Party (UDP) has recommended to the expert committee reviewing the reservation policy that job quotas should be increased according to population proportions. UDP General Secretary, Dr. Jemino Mawthoh, emphasized that the party trusts the expert committee to carefully consider population data when revising the policy.
Regarding the teaching profession, UDP proposed that reservations should be equally shared among the Khasi, Jaintia, and Garo communities to ensure qualified teachers are selected. For education quotas, the party suggested prioritizing merit, with special provisions for economically weaker sections, ensuring proper identification of eligible families.
