The body of 20-year-old Banteidor Thongni, a Khasi youth suspected of taking his own life, arrived in Shillong today, September 29. Thongni, who had been working as a helper in a hotel kitchen in Bengaluru for the past two years, was found hanging at his residence in Bengaluru around midnight, according to reports.
Family members, alongside leaders from the Hynñiewtrep National Youth Front (HNYF) Northern Regions and HNYF Nongthymmai Circle, received the body at Guwahati Airport. Prior to this, the body had been handled by leaders of the Voice of the People Party (VPP) in Bangalore, accompanied by Shillong MP Dr. Ricky AJ Syngkon. The body was then transported to Guwahati Airport before being handed over to the family member for the final rites.
