Shillong: Despite their defeat in the recent football final, the players of Mynken Christian Higher Secondary School have earned praise from Ri-Bhoi District Sports Officer (DSO) Bobby L Nongbet. Speaking after the match, Nongbet acknowledged that winning and losing are part of the game but noted that the team from Manipur had the upper hand this time. He commended the Mynken Christian team for their commendable performance, though they missed key opportunities during the match.
Nongbet highlighted the team’s efforts and expressed pride in their achievements, particularly as they represented Ri-Bhoi and Meghalaya on a national platform. He also congratulated the three schools from his district that took part in the tournament, recognizing their contributions.
In addition, Nongbet spoke with Umroi MLA Damanbait Lamare, MDC R.K Kharbukli, and Shillong Lajong FC owner Larsing M Sawyan, all of whom were in Delhi to support the team, along with local fans.
Despite the loss, the Mynken Christian team has been lauded for their sportsmanship and for reaching the final of such a prestigious tournament.
