Shillong: The District Police on Thursday arrested three accused persons involved in threatening tourists and guest house owner on April 3 at Mawdiangdiang, New Shillong.
As per police reports, the three accused arrested were members of the Hynniewtrep Achik National Movement (HANM).
“On the morning of 3rd April, 2023 around 9 am, some members of the Hynniewtrep Achik National Movement (HANM) went to Miracle Spring View Guest House located at Mawdiangdiang and had threatened tourists of the said guest house. The tourists had come for a two day visit to Meghalaya to visit some religious sites and also for sightseeing”, said the police statement.
“The above persons threatened the owner of the guest house with dire consequences which had caused fear and consternation to the owners of the guest house and tourists”, further informed the statement.
The Police on apprehended the accused has registered a case has been registered at Rynjah PS.
“The East Khasi Hills District Police warns anyone from taking the law into their hands by disrupting the visit of tourists to the state”, said the Police Statement.
