On Sunday, September 15, a 23-year-old motorcyclist, Akshat Garg, was killed in Gurgaon after being hit by a car driving in the wrong direction on Golf Course Road near Belvedere Park. The crash occurred around 5:45 am while Garg was riding with safety gear. His friend Pradyuman Kumar, following him on another bike, witnessed the accident.
The collision happened when a speeding Mahindra XUV 300, coming from the opposite direction, struck Garg’s motorcycle head-on, flinging him into the air and leaving his bike mangled. Despite immediate medical attention, Garg was declared dead at the hospital.
Commuters apprehended the car’s driver and passenger, who were later handed over to the police. The driver, identified as 25-year-old Kuldeep Kumar Thakur, claimed he was following Google Maps. He was arrested but later released on bail. An FIR was filed under sections of the Motor Vehicles Act, including charges for causing death by negligence and rash driving. The investigation is ongoing.
