Shillong: A late-evening raid by the Anti-Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) at Lum Survey — widely known as a drug hotspot in the city — has revealed key information about the local drug network.
During the operation, police detained several youths found buying or injecting drugs. One of them, during questioning, claimed that the primary peddler supplying the area is a man known only as Salim. He said Salim frequently delivers drugs in Lum Survey and, when unavailable there, can often be found at Punjabi Lane (Them Metor), another area long associated with illegal drug activity.
The youth further admitted that he himself was on his way to buy “half a CC” from Salim when the ANTF team arrived. He added that Lum Survey has evolved into a major injection-drug point, not just a distribution zone.
The ANTF team rounded up multiple youth users during the raid and is continuing its investigation to identify and arrest the main supplier behind the network.
