A 10-year-old boy named Donald Marthong from the village of Risiang in the Maweit area of West Khasi Hills has been selected to join the Minerva Academy Football Club in Punjab for advanced training in football.
Donald, the seventh child of Franco Puweiñ and Daplin, hails from a remote and underdeveloped village. Despite his young age, he has shown exceptional talent in football and has also excelled in marathon running, often securing top positions in the under-14 category. Besides sports, he is skilled in dancing, singing, comedy, and beatboxing.
In an interview with T7, Donald’s father shared that his son, currently a Class V student at the local village school, has always been passionate about sports. While many have recognized Donald’s potential, his father’s main role has been to offer support and encouragement, hoping that his son will make the most of this opportunity with Minerva Academy.
