HEADLINES

Tura, March 16: The West Garo Hills District Police have clarified that a house search operation recently conducted in the district was carried out strictly in accordance with legal procedures, refuting claims made in a viral Facebook video circulating on social media.

The video post titled “Breaking news: Garo Hills ni obosta jatna namanina kam kagipa dilgipako indake dakjok. GARO HILLS NI MANDERANG MAIKO DAKGEN.” has been widely shared online, allegedly portraying the police action in a misleading manner.

In an official statement, the police said the search was conducted as per the provisions of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023. The operation was led by a senior police officer, and the entire process was documented through videography while being carried out in the presence of independent witnesses.

Police further clarified that family members of the household were present during the search and accompanied the officers throughout the procedure.

According to the statement, the viral video appears to have been circulated with a malafide intention to mislead the public and spread false information about the police department.

Authorities have urged the general public not to be misled by incomplete or misleading content circulating on social media.

The police also stated that any individual or organisation wishing to verify the facts may approach the District Police through proper channels, where the official video recording of the search can be examined.

The West Garo Hills District Police reiterated their commitment to transparency and upholding the rule of law while carrying out their duties.
