The “Our Magnificent Meghalaya | Vision 2032” programme marking eight years of the MDA Government was held at the P.A. Sangma Sports Complex in Tura on March 6. The event was attended by Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, Deputy Chief Ministers Prestone Tynsong and Sniawbhalang Dhar, Speaker Thomas A. Sangma and several Cabinet Ministers and MLAs.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister reflected on the government’s eight-year journey, acknowledging challenges while expressing gratitude for the support of the people. He said the true measure of development is not only infrastructure but the positive change it brings to people’s lives.
During the programme, the government distributed financial assistance worth around ₹220 crore to beneficiaries under various schemes. The Chief Minister also launched the Chief Minister’s Scholarship Scheme for 2025–26 benefiting over 98,000 students and a uniform grant for 50,000 students through Direct Benefit Transfer.
The event also saw the inauguration of 101 community halls under the JICA-supported community forest management project and eight warehouses and Common Facility Centres in the Garo Hills under the CM Elevate initiative. Several beneficiaries shared their experiences on how government schemes such as CM Farm+, CM Elevate and the CM Homestay Mission have improved their livelihoods.
The programme highlighted the state government’s development initiatives and its Vision 2032 goal of sustainable growth and improved opportunities for the people of Meghalaya.
