Tura: A poster allegedly claiming to be issued by the militant outfit ISIS-K has surfaced in Tura, threatening members of the Garo community and warning them to vacate parts of West Garo Hills by 2027.

According to the contents of the poster, the Garo community has been warned to leave areas including West Garo Hills, Phulbari, Rajabala, Tikrikilla, Selsella, Garobadha and Tura, which the poster claims as “our areas.” The message further threatens that those who fail to vacate the places by 2027 would be risking their lives.

The poster bears the name “Aminur Islam,” identifying him as a “Plain Belt Area Commander.” It was found pasted near the New Tura Matchokolgre Field, close to the Law College at Araimile in West Garo Hills district.

Following the circulation of images and videos of the poster on social media, police rushed to the spot and immediately removed it. The incident triggered concern after the message spread rapidly online.

Police have urged the public not to circulate or amplify such messages, warning that doing so could incite communal tension and disrupt peace and public order. Citizens have been advised to remain calm and avoid being misled by unverified content on social media platforms.

West Garo Hills Superintendent of Police stated that the incident is suspected to be the handiwork of miscreants attempting to create fear and communal disharmony. He added that police are actively investigating the matter and efforts are underway to identify and trace those responsible.

The SP further cautioned against sharing provocative content online and warned that strict legal action would be taken against anyone found involved in spreading such material.

Police have assured that the law and order situation in the district remains under control.
