Shillong: The United Democratic Party (UDP) is confident to win the adjourned poll in Sohiong constituency.
Speaking to reporters, UDP leader Metbah Lyngdoh said, “We are very confident that this time even from Sohiong constituency after the adjourned poll was announced by the election commission and now adjournment date has been fixed by the election commission so we will move ahead and till now whatever information that I have and whatever inputs that we received from the ground that things are going in favour of our candidate.”
On asked, if the sympathy wave will play its role in favour of the UDP, Lyngdoh concur that sympathy will be to the advantage of the UDP as people wants to show gratefulness to late HDR Lyngdoh because of his contribution towards the constituency.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced the adjourned poll to Sohiong will be held on May 10.
After the sudden demised of its candidate HDR Lyngdoh, the UDP is not fielding his nephew Synsharlang Kupar Lyngdoh as the party candidate.
