THE GOVERNMENT HAS NOT FORGOTTEN THE DEMANDS OF THE ADHOC TEACHERS: RYMBUI

HEADLINES

SHILLONG, January 17: The Education Minister of Meghalaya, Lahkmen Rymbui said that the Government has not forgotten the demands of the adhoc teachers and also said that it is not easy for the Government to immediately fulfill the demand to upgrade them to the deficit category. He said that the process to fulfill the demand of the teachers is in process but he added that he cannot promise to fulfill their demands as per their wish.

The adhoc teachers under the banner of the Federation of All School Teachers of Meghalaya (FASTOM) today, held an agitation outside the Secretariat gate to remind the Government of the promises made from 2019 to invite the teachers for a talk on upgrading 7,090 Adhoc teachers from across the state to deficit teachers category.

Responding to a query, the Minister said that the demand of the Adhoc teachers is no longer new and the Government cannot promise to call the teachers for a talk, but the doors of the Government are always open for in the past, several meetings with leaders of the teachers’ organisation have been held and they must also understand which demand can be fulfilled and which demand cannot be fulfilled.

Rymbui said that the Government has not forgotten the issues of the State but it is not easy to just take a hasty decision as several aspects have to be studied in detail so that whatever is decided will be as per the promises made.
