Shillong, Nov 24: A black bag left unattended outside the entrance of SBI’s Main Branch in Police Bazaar triggered panic on Monday, prompting an immediate response from police and the Bomb Squad.
Upon receiving the alert, police cordoned off the area and halted both vehicular and pedestrian movement. The Bomb Squad arrived shortly after with protective gear and carefully inspected the bag.
During the examination, the team found only clothes and a few miscellaneous items, including a bracelet, confirming there was no explosive material inside. The bag was later handed over to Sadar Police Station for further investigation to trace its owner.
The swift response by authorities helped restore normalcy after nearly an hour of tension in one of the city’s busiest commercial areas.
