Shillong, July 25: Officials of the Shillong Municipal Board (SMB), accompanied by district administration personnel, continued their enforcement patrols around Khyndailad on Thursday morning to ensure compliance with the relocation of street vendors to the MUDA parking lot.
During the patrol, the SMB seized a pick-up truck loaded with various goods and materials belonging to vendors attempting to defy the relocation order. The confiscated items included tools and makeshift equipment typically used for setting up roadside stalls, such as mats, cooking utensils, and other accessories.
The operation is part of a larger push by the authorities to clear and decongest the iconic 9 Lad area and bring order to street vending activities, following the official allotment of stalls inside the MUDA facility.
