Shillong: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the death of Raja Raghuvanshi is preparing to file a second chargesheet against his wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi and others involved, pending the receipt of a key forensic report.
Speaking to the media, East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem said that the SIT is currently awaiting the forensic report from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) in Hyderabad. Once the report is received, the investigation team will be in a position to submit the second chargesheet.
The police were initially given time to complete the investigation by the first week of December. However, we are expecting the forensic report by the third week of November, after which the chargesheet will be filed, Syiem said.
He added that the SIT has been working meticulously to build a strong and comprehensive case, incorporating all relevant evidence and legal provisions.
On whether Sonam Raghuvanshi may be granted bail, the SP clarified that the matter lies solely with the court. The decision regarding bail does not rest with the police. It will be up to the court to decide based on the case presented, he stated.
Raja Raghuvanshi died under suspicious circumstances, and his wife Sonam, along with several others, was arrested for alleged involvement in his death. The case continues to draw public attention as the investigation progresses.
