The Meghalaya government is preparing to relocate street vendors from Khyndai Lad as part of its plan to decongest and beautify the area.
Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh informed that the government has identified around 200 street vendors, who will soon be shifted to designated locations near Jail Road and opposite the State Bank of India.
However, the Minister did not specify an exact timeline for the relocation.
The move of the State government to clear Khyndai Lad of street vendors to maintain cleanliness and create a more tourist-friendly environment in the heart of Shillong.
