Schoolchildren Forced to Wade Through Rivers Due to Lack of Bridge in Maweit Area, Says FKJGP

HEADLINES

Maweit, October 9: The Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP) has raised concerns over the daily struggles faced by schoolchildren in the Maweit area, who are forced to wade through the Wahlyngdoh river due to the absence of a bridge. The children, from Nongtraw village, have to cross the river on foot to reach their school in Nongdingsning, creating a significant challenge for their daily commute.

Anthony Umïong Lamphang, leader of FKJGP Maweit, expressed deep disappointment over the situation and urged the government to take immediate action to build a bridge in the area. He also mentioned that the FKJGP plans to submit a formal letter to the authorities, pressing for a resolution to this long-standing issue.
