Sankardev College, Shillong, organised a panel discussion on Article 371 and the Sixth Schedule on Friday at the college’s Auditorium Hall.
The event saw participation from key political figures and legal experts, including Manuel Badwar, Congress MDC candidate from Laitumkhrah-Malki; Robertjune Kharjahrin, UDP representative; Mewanker Lyngdoh from the BJP and senior advocates Erwin K. Syiem Sutnga and Dr. Fenela Lyngdoh Nonglait, who served as resource persons.
The discussion provided valuable insights for students, who actively engaged and attentively listened to the deliberations. Key topics included Article 371(A), which grants special provisions to Nagaland; Article 371(G), applicable to Mizoram; and Article 244(2), which pertains to the Sixth Schedule governing autonomous district councils in the Northeast.
