Shillong: A grand musical tribute celebrating the timeless legacy of legendary music composer Sachin Dev Burman will be held at U Soso Tham Auditorium on November 9. The second edition of “Remembering the Maestro – S.D. Burman” is being organised by the Byatikram Group, in association with The Times of India and Rabindranath Tagore Club, Laban.
The highly anticipated evening will feature an ensemble of acclaimed artists and dignitaries, including Governor Chandrashekhar H. Vijayashankar, Shillong music legend Lou Majaw, and Manisha Hazarika, sister-in-law of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika.
At a press conference, Byatikram Group Patron-in-Chief Dr. Saumen Bharatiya described the event as a tribute to one of the Northeast’s greatest musical icons. “S.D. Burman’s music transcends generations and continues to inspire countless artists. He was one of the most renowned figures of the golden era of Indian music,” he said.
A key highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the S.D. Wallang’s career, spanning over four decades, has seen him collaborate and perform with some of the world’s most celebrated musicians.
In homage to the maestro’s contribution to Indian music, the concert will feature soulful renditions of S.D. Burman’s evergreen classics by Jayati Bhattacharjee, Chandrima Bhattacharjee, Binita Devi, Anaya Brahma, Urmimala Choudhury, Dr. Jayashree Devi, and Indrani Dutta, along with a dance performance by Panchali Sarkar.
The event, dedicated to the late music legend Zubeen Garg, is open to all and promises a night of melody, nostalgia, and celebration of India’s rich musical heritage.
