Utah: A high-powered bolt-action rifle believed to have been used in the shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk was recovered in the woods near Utah Valley University, FBI agent Robert Bohls confirmed at a press conference on Thursday morning. Investigators also discovered shoe impressions and a palm print at the site.
Bohls stated that the shooter was not hiding in the woods and assured the public that the incident was a targeted attack, not an ongoing community threat. Authorities are deploying all resources to track the suspect, who is described as male, of apparent college age, and able to blend in with students. Officials said they have obtained strong video footage of the assailant and are using technology to confirm his identity.
The shooter’s motive remains unclear, but investigators are examining physical evidence, including the recovered palm print and footwear impression. More than 130 tips have been received and are under review as the manhunt continues.
