Power Minister AT Mondal has urged consumers to report unusually high electricity bills or any related issues to the concerned authorities so that necessary action can be taken.
Responding to public complaints about rising electricity bills, Mondal stated that the state power department regularly clarifies such matters to the public.
He explained that one of the reasons for the increase is that some consumers had underpaid their bills in previous months. However, he acknowledged that there could be other factors as well, and urged consumers to report any discrepancies so that appropriate measures can be taken.
Notably, several villages in West Khasi Hills have seen electricity bills skyrocketing to lakhs and tens of thousands, prompting affected residents to approach the MeECL office for clarification.
