Pynshngain N. Syiem is likely to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in May, according to Vincent H. Pala, President of the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC).
Speaking in Shillong, Pala said Syiem had been unhappy after being directed by the party to withdraw from the Executive Committee (EC) of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC), where he had aligned with the National People’s Party (NPP).
Pala stated that this dissatisfaction led to Syiem’s recent exit from the Congress. He added that Syiem may join the BJP along with leaders from other parties, including the United Democratic Party (UDP) and NPP.
Syiem had earlier resigned from Congress, alleging that the party leadership in Delhi failed to address concerns raised by state leaders.
