The local public and village administrators of Raid Madan Kyrdem,Eastern Ri-Bhoi District continue to stand strong against the intention of the Government to set up a Solid Waste Management in Mawlwai village.
This protest against the State Government’s intention to set up a landfill in this village also saw the support of Ri-Bhoi Dorbar, Ri-Bhoi Youth Federation, Ka Sur U Bri U Hynniewtrep, Eastern Development Council and Village Administrators, the Sordars under the jurisdiction of Raid Madan Kyrdem.
In the public gathering , a decision was taken to oppose and to refuse any plot of land to allow the fulfillment of the Government’s intention in Mawlwai village and a demand also emerged for the Government to listen to the local public and to shift the landfill or Marten to other places and that it should not be in Ri-Bhoi District.
The leaders who were also present on this day to protest the intention of the Government were Erwin Sutnga, a lawyer, G.S.Shadap, General Secretary of Ri-Bhoi Dorbar, Bipul Thangkhiew, President of RBYF and office bearers of Raid Madan Kyrdem.
