Shillong: Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong has said that the Meghalaya Government envisions a complete transformation of Them Ïewmawlong, stating that “a time will come when Ïew Mawlong will become like Times Square.” He made the remarks on Friday during a programme held at Saitsohpen.
Tynsong reiterated the government’s intention to relocate residents from Them Metor/ Them Ïewmawlong, saying the long-pending issue will be resolved and the area will undergo major redevelopment. He recalled how the Crowborough site had remained stagnant for nearly 40 years but has now become a five-star hotel, highlighting it as an example of the government’s commitment to progress despite challenges.
He asserted that the government is steadily working through multiple obstacles to complete major projects in Shillong, with the relocation of Them Metor remaining one of the last key tasks. “The time will come, and it will happen,” he said confidently.
The Deputy Chief Minister also urged parents and youth not to fall prey to misinformation, especially at a time when misleading narratives can easily spread.
