SHILLONG: Former Rangsakona MLA Zenith M. Sangma has asserted that politics is not a family business, but a platform for public service.
Speaking to reporters after officially rejoining the Indian National Congress on Tuesday, Zenith said, that in politics, there is nothing personal or family-related. It is about serving the people.
His return to the Congress comes even as his elder brother, Dr. Mukul Sangma, continues to remain with the Trinamool Congress (TMC). When asked about his brother’s stand, Zenith said, that as a leader, it’s not appropriate for me to speak for Dr. Mukul or to question whether he will come back to the Congress or not.
Explaining his move, Zenith said he left the TMC because his roots have always been with the Congress, a party he has loved since his youth.
Zenith stressed that he has returned to the Congress without any conditions, vowing to work as a loyal foot soldier of the party in the service of the people of Meghalaya.
