Nongpoh, July 27: Following the hard work of the Ri-Bhoi Police to fight against smuggling of drugs in the interstate border areas of Ri-Bhoi and Assam, last night the Ri-Bhoi Police seized 10 packets of heroin worth about Rs.75 lakhs and also arrested two miscreants involved in the smuggling of the seized drugs.
The police succeeded in seizing the drugs after reliable information from sources informed that there are a few miscreants who intend to smuggle drugs and after conducting a search operation at the Byrnihat Police Outpost caught a motorbike and in the investigation found 10 packets of heroin and arrested the driver of the motorbike and other items.
The SP of Ri-Bhoi District,Giri Prasad said that after the search operation and look out for the miscreants, the police in their search were able to seize only the drugs and the motorbike bearing registration number ML05 R 4704 along with the rider and pillion rider of the said bike.
The arrested persons are identified as Shanborlang Khongwir and Bandapkupar Mawlong.
After the investigation process and further digging into the seizing of the drugs and other items, the Ri-Bhoi Police have registered a case under the NDPS Act and the investigation on the two arrested persons is ongoing.
