Shillong: More than 700 people have died from HIV/AIDS in Meghalaya over the past ten years, Health Minister Wailadmiki Shylla informed the Assembly.
Replying to a question raised by Gambegre MLA Mehtab Chandee Sangma during the Assembly session on Wednesday, Shylla said that 749 deaths related to AIDS have been recorded in the state over the last decade.
The minister also stated that 9,674 people were living with HIV/AIDS in Meghalaya as of 2024.
He added that the recorded deaths were reported from various districts across the state.
