SHILLONG: Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Vincent H. Pala has revealed that the Congress party is well-prepared for the upcoming elections to the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC), with as many as 60 aspirants seeking party tickets to contest across the 29 constituencies.
Pala said the party will soon finalize its list of candidates based on winnability and public preference, emphasising that Congress aims to field the most capable and widely accepted individuals in each constituency.
He stated that there is a strong wave of public sentiment against the current MDCs, and the Congress is confident of performing well in the polls.
The voice of the people calling for a change in leadership within the GHADC is loud and clear. We expect the Congress to win a majority of seats this time, Pala said.
However, he accused the National People’s Party (NPP) of attempting to influence voters with money, calling it a “desperate tactic” that reflects the ruling party’s fear of losing ground.
With the GHADC elections approaching, Pala affirmed that the Congress is united, organised and determined to regain the people’s trust in the Garo Hills region.
