Not Interested in Contesting MP By-Election Now: Paul Lyngdoh

HEADLINES

Shillong: UDP MLA Paul Lyngdoh has said he is not interested in contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha by-election from the Shillong Parliamentary Constituency for now.

Speaking to reporters, Lyngdoh said he prefers to continue serving the state and focus on development work rather than enter the parliamentary race at this stage.

He had earlier contested the 2014 Lok Sabha election from the United Democratic Party (UDP) but lost to Congress candidate Vincent H. Pala.

The by-election to the Shillong Parliamentary seat is expected in the coming months following the sudden demise of MP Dr. Ricky AJ Syngkon of the Voice of the People Party (VPP).

On the upcoming GHADC MDC elections, Lyngdoh said he has not yet met party leaders regarding the matter as he has been occupied with other responsibilities.
