New Meghalaya Assembly Building nears completion; June deadline holds

Shillong: The construction of the new Meghalaya Legislative Assembly building at Mawdiangdiang is in its final phase, with all external works completed and interior works currently in progress, Assembly Speaker Thomas A. Sangma said on Tuesday.

Speaking to reporters, Sangma stated that while the structure is fully completed from the outside, work inside the building is still underway. He said the ongoing internal works include the installation of audio-visual systems, CCTV surveillance, and electrical wiring.

On the project timeline, the Speaker said the June deadline remains in place for now and added that efforts are being made to ensure timely completion.

Sangma also informed that a meeting of the high-powered committee will be held at the project site in the near future to review the progress of the work.
