NEHU Teachers Threaten to Open Gate No. 1 Themselves If University Fails to Act Within a Week

HEADLINES

Shillong — The North-Eastern Hill University Teachers’ Association (NEHUTA) has given the NEHU administration a one-week deadline to open Gate No. 1, warning that teachers will open it themselves if the authorities fail to act.

NEHUTA president Prof. Lakhon Kma said that although construction of Gate No. 1 was completed more than a year ago, it has still not been opened for use. He stressed that the gate is essential for smooth entry and exit from the campus and that the continued delay is causing unnecessary inconvenience.

Prof. Kma stated that the association expects the university management to “open the gate immediately” within the next seven days, failing which NEHUTA and its members “will have no option but to open Gate No. 1 on their own” as a mark of protest.

The demand reflects growing frustration among teachers over what they see as administrative apathy towards basic campus infrastructure and accessibility.
