Lok Sabha MP Dr. Ricky A.J. Syngkon has expressed deep concern over the ongoing unrest at North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), where students are staging a hunger strike against Vice Chancellor Prof. Prabha Shukla Shankar. The protest, now in its third day, demands the resignation of the Vice Chancellor, citing his decision to retain the Registrar and Deputy Registrar, whom students allege are unqualified.
Speaking today, Dr. Syngkon revealed that he recently traveled to Delhi and has submitted a letter to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, urging him to intervene and address the crisis at NEHU.
Students have intensified their agitation, accusing the administration of mismanagement and calling for immediate leadership changes to restore order at the institution.
