Rongara-Siju MLA and State Education Minister Rakkam A. Sangma has awarded ₹5,000 to each student from his constituency who scored 80 marks or above (Letter Marks) in individual subjects in the SSLC (Class 10) exams.
Speaking on the initiative, Sangma said this is the fourth time he has extended such a gesture to encourage students who excel in various subjects. He affirmed that as long as he remains an MLA, he will continue to support and motivate students in this way.
He added that if any student from his constituency secures a position among the state’s Top 20, he will ensure they get admitted to best educational institutions in the country.
Sangma noted a significant rise in high-achieving students this year, with 178 students earning Letter Marks, compared to just around 20 in previous years. He has spent nearly ₹16 lakh in total to support them.
