The Meghalaya Transport Corporation (MTC) has announced that it will discontinue its school bus operations starting from the next academic year, effective April 1, 2026.
According to the Managing Director of MTC, the decision was taken by the Corporation’s Board of Directors. With the withdrawal of MTC-operated school bus services, parents and guardians have been advised to make alternative arrangements for student transportation.
The Managing Director informed that STEMS, which is currently providing school bus services, may be considered as an alternative by the general public for school transportation needs.
The decision marks the end of MTC’s role in operating dedicated school buses across the state.
