Social Welfare Minister and government spokesperson Paul Lyngdoh has assured that the Meghalaya government is committed to ensuring the safety of its residents when they travel outside the state.
Responding to concerns over the recent deaths of two students from Meghalaya in Karnataka, Lyngdoh stated that the Secretary of the Home Department will soon submit a report to the state government regarding the incident.
He urged local organisations and community leaders to collaborate with the government by reporting any difficulties faced by residents traveling outside the state. While acknowledging that the government has limited authority over parents sending their children elsewhere for education, he however added that the government will intervene in cases involving illegal activities or violations of the law.
The minister reiterated the government’s stance on safeguarding its citizens and encouraged timely communication to address any challenges faced by Meghalayans outside the state.
