Shillong: The Meghalaya government has declared three days of state mourning from September 13 to 15 following the death of former Chief Minister Dr. DD Lapang. During this period, the national flag will fly at half-mast across the state and all government offices have been instructed to suspend official programmes.
An official notification issued by Commissioner and Secretary of GAD, Cyril V.D. Diengdoh, confirmed the arrangements. The government will accord a state funeral to Dr. Lapang on September 15 at 1 PM at Student Field, Jaiaw, Shillong, to honour the veteran leader who served the state multiple times as Chief Minister.
