Shillong: The Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA-II) government is set for a major cabinet reshuffle on Tuesday, with sources indicating that as many as eight ministers may be dropped.
According to information, among those likely to be removed are BJP MLA A.L. Hek, who may be replaced by fellow party legislator Sanbor Shullai, and HSPDP’s Shakliar Warjri, who could be replaced by Methodius Dkhar.
Others expected to be dropped include Health Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh, Excise Minister Kyrmen Shylla, Food & Civil Supplies Minister Comingone Ymbon, Border Areas Minister A.T. Mondal, Education Minister Rakkam A. Sangma, and Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh.
Sources further revealed that new entrants to the cabinet are likely to include Sohra MLA Gavin Mylliem, Jowai MLA Wailadmiki Shylla, former Speaker and Mairang MLA Metbah Lyngdoh, Amlarem MLA Lahkmen Rymbui, former Deputy Speaker and Resubelpara MLA Timothy D. Shira, and Mendipathar MLA Marthon Sangma.
The swearing-in of the new ministers under the Conrad K. Sangma-led MDA-II government is expected to take place in the evening.
However, details regarding the allocation of portfolios are yet to be confirmed.
