The wife of Mawkynrew MLA and former cabinet minister Banteidor Lyngdoh, Amanda Pakyntein, has officially entered the race for the Mawkynrew seat in the upcoming Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) elections.
Filing her nomination on Monday under the National People’s Party (NPP) ticket, Pakyntein expressed strong confidence in securing victory and vowed to continue her husband’s legacy of development and progress in the constituency.
Addressing the media, Pakyntein assured voters that if elected, she would work to strengthen the Sixth Schedule, which she described as the cornerstone of protection for the indigenous community. She also pledged to preserve Khasi customs and traditions while driving socio-economic development in the region.
Pakyntein also stressed the need for clean and accountable governance in the KHADC. She stressed the importance of transparency in job recruitment and vowed to implement measures that promote fairness and equal opportunities. Additionally, she underscored the urgent need for environmental protection, highlighting the role of KHADC in ensuring sustainable development.
