Mawkyrwat, May 17: In part to join hands in the Meghalaya World No Tobacco Day 2022 organised by the National Health Mission on the topic ” “Tobacco vs Environment”, Maharam Government Higher Secondary School, Mawkyrwat today the 17th of May, 2022 held a public rally which began from the school compound.
The public rally was held to create awareness amongst the resident public about the dangers of smoking tobacco to the health of smokers, besides the pollution created from smoke which affect the environment and the fertility of the soil, crops, the climate, air quality, water and other effects.
The public rally had many school students participating in the rally along with teachers starting from the school compound to the CHC Mawkyrwat, into the Mawkyrwat market and back to school.
On the same day, students and the public also participated in slogan writing, pledge reading, signature campaigns on this topic.
