SHILLONG, February 04: The Rajya Sabha MP and also State President of the NPP, Dr.Wanwei Roy Kharlukhi has expressed in the Parliament that it is about time that a recognition is extended to the Khasi and Garo language in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution.
Speaking in the Parliament, Dr.Kharlukhi said that even as Meghalaya has touched 50 years as a State, it is however sad that the demand passed as a resolution by the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly to finally recognise the English and Khasi language has yet not been processed for implementation. He said that even though Meghalaya has celebrated 50 years of Statehood yet the languages used in the State have not been recognised still.
