Jowai :Today the Khasi Students Union (KSU),West Jaiñtia Hills District Unit held a felicitation programme for Inesha Bahun Dkhar who brought pride and honour for Meghalaya and West Jaiñtia Hills District by winning a bronze medal in the Kickboxing or Hades K-Pro organised by the World Mixed Martial Arts Union in Goa in the past few days. In this felicitation programme were also present the family members of Inesha Bahun Dkhar and was held in Highwind Hotel in Thadlaskein.
Inesha Bahun Dkhar is the third of the five children of Smti.Maialang Dkhar from Tarangblang, WJHD and who is pursuing her Master’s in Arts from NEHU, Shillong, and Inesha is the first from the district who brought this honour in this sport.
In her speech, Inesha said that she firstly give thanks to God the Almighty Creator for being with her and also her mother and family members who have always encouraged her since she first started moving forward in this sport and especially her coaches. She said that this is not the first time that she has won medals but she has also won the Gold Medal in the Kickboxing National Level held in Punjab, and also for Muaythai held Guwahati and other competitions at the National Level, in which till this year she has earned upto 6 medals including 2 Gold medals, 2 silver medals, and two bronze medals.
Inesha also urged fellow youths with a talent in sports to be patient and work hard, while stating that she agrees there are many challenges which must be tackled before they can reach the goal but if we have patience and work hard we will be successful one day.
Before the felicitation ceremony, a brief meeting was held which was conducted by Pharki Papang, Finance Secretary, KSU-JHDU with speeches delivered by Michel Platinu Mukhim, Sports Secretary and Chanbor War, Vice President of the organisation in the presence of other members of the organisation including the members from the Women’s Wing of the organisation, who all praise the young woman and extended their best wishes so she can move further in life and bring more honours to the State, the country and especially the community.
