Shillong, September 20: Saleng A. Sangma, the Congress legislator representing Gambegre, has tendered his resignation from the position of chairman of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

Sangma, addressing reporters, explained that he stepped down from the role of PAC chairman due to his recent appointment as the opposition chief whip. Tynsong stated, “Whereas, Saleng A Sangma, Chairman of the Committee on Public Accounts has resigned from the Chairmanship of the Committee on Public Accounts, and it was accepted. This Assembly will now elect another member in accordance with Rule 242 (1) of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in Meghalaya Legislative Assembly to fill up the vacancy for the remaining term of the said Committee.” He also mentioned that the Commissioner & Secretary would notify the date, time, and place of the election if necessary.
