Nongpoh, May 02: Today the 2nd of May, Ri-Bhoi District Sports Association (RBDSA) held a sending off function organised by Umsning Ri-Bhoi District to wish the best to the athletes of Ri-Bhoi area who will be representing Ri-Bhoi District at the Meghalaya Games to be held in Shillong.
On this day, there were 76 male and female athletes who will be represent Ri-Bhoi District at the Meghalaya Games including in the Senior Women Football, Under 21 Football and Athletic contingent, to be accompanied by 13 officials.
On this day, in order to encourage the athletes, the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Umsning C&RD Block, Raja Brahma, B.R.Shadap, President of RBDSA, Sunlight Shadap, Secretary RBDSA along with office bearers of the Ri-Bhoi District Sports Association and others were also present.
The BDO of Umsning expressed his happiness at seeing many youths of Ri-Bhoi area participating in the Meghalaya Games which will be held in Shillong and also urged upon them to work hard in order to taste the fruits of success so that they can bring fame and honour to the district as a whole.
Furthermore, he also urged the male and female athletes to always possess a sporting spirit and to always maintain discipline. In conclusion, as the Block Development Officer of Umsning, he wished them the best so that they can play well and bring fame and honour.
