SHILLONG, March 01: The Minister incharge of the Education Department in Meghalaya, Lahkmen Rymbui said that the Government has worked tirelessly towards ensuring the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) teachers in the state get paid their pending salaries while also stating that the State Government will take action by the 31st of March to ensure the payment of the teachers’ salaries.

The Meghalaya SSA School Association (MSSASA) had announced intense agitations following the non-payment of salaries for about 5 months, with an agitation already scheduled to be held tomorrow the 2nd of March in front of the Secretariat.

On being asked, Rymbui said that the matter of the SSA is a very difficult matter and expressed his sympathies for the teachers who have to resort to agitations in order to get their rightful dues. He said that the Government from its end has tried to get their salaries from the Central Government while also stating that Meghalaya is fortunate as it is a state which has already received the first installment of the funds and now the Government is fighting for the second installment to be disbursed.

He said that in the past week he was in Delhi seeking for the second installment to be disbursed. He has urged the teachers to kindly remain patient, while stating that the Government will try to take some action and added that the Government will definitely take some action after the Budget Session of the State or within the 31st of March.
