Shillong: The MLA of Jowai, Wailadmiki Shylla said that the State Government has taken the step to cancel all contracts relating to the revamp of one of the well-known markets in Jaintia Hills,Ka Ïawmusiang, as the contractor tasked with the construction of this market has delayed his work by stating a delay in the release of funds in the further process of the work as the reason and following which, the Government released more funds as was sought by the contractor and for a while the construction work progressed further rapidly.
However,as time went on, delays in the construction work began again and from the Government’s end show cause notices were issued to the contractor several times but with no response received from him, the Government has no option but to cancel the old tender and prepare to reopen a new tender call for the project.
