January,12: Wahmawleiñ village situated on the slope of a hill in the Mawkynrew region held the closing ceremony programme of its Silver Jubilee celebration on the 12th of January,2022. The village was established in the year 1996 in a plot given by Smti.Khriak Suting after a few households had to shift from Mawlat due to a landslide which endangered them.

On this day was present the former MLA and present Executive Member of the KHADC,Shri. Martle M.Mukhim, who was also one of the people involved in the planning of the village in those years when these households had met with great distress.The BDO, Shri. L.T Tariang, the Sordar of the village,Shri.Manphred Ksiar, former MLA,Shri.Remington Pyngrope and residents of the village were also present.

The village has about 70 households and has also been awarded as the cleanest village in the Mawkynrew Block by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj and the Prime Minister’s Office.

Speaking on this day, Mukhim said that at the time when the village was established, a target was put to make this village into a Model Village and he is happy for now it is recognised for the exemplary efforts by the Government authorities.

At the same time, former and present village administrators, ASHA workers,SHG,students and good will volunteers were felicitated.

The programme on this day was made lively with the song and dance performances from the youths of Wahmawleiñ village.
