SHILLONG, July 26: The Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad K.Sangma said the raid on the farmhouse of the MDC who is also the Vice President of the BJP, Bernard N.Marak was carried out as per law without the Chief Minister interfering on what should be done.
With regards to the raid on the property of Bernard Marak, Conrad Sangma said that he was informed of the raid which was to be carried out on which he clearly stated that what needs to be carried out should be carried out as per the stipulations of the law with witnesses being present. He said he did not interfere on the task and duty of the police force and he did not at all issue any kind of order to kill Bernard Marak as has been alleged by him.
He said the raid on the property which is known as Rimpu Bagan in Edenbari is a follow up on the complaint received from quite a number of people including the local residents of the area and civil society organisations, and the raid is after the police had some time ago received complaints from women being raped several times in the farmhouse, with the police also then taking their time till all proofs were present to carry out the necessary action, and added that alleging that the whole thing was done just because of the upcoming election is completely false.
