Shillong: The Hill Farmers Union today met with the seniormost officer in-charge of the Department of Agriculture, Government of India in Delhi, Sanjay Agarwal (IAS), who holds the position of Secretary of the Agriculture &Farmers Welfare.
The topic of discussion between the Union and the Officer is on the problems which the farmers of the State come across and experience from time to time.
The matters that had been pressed strongly in this meeting were one on the extremely low prices of ginger and bay leaves, as this has caused many losses to the local farmers and the other is the matter of including all the farmers with no landholding in the PM Kissan Scheme especially the farmers from Meghalaya.
