Minister Rakkam A. Sangma said on Wednesday that the government has tasked the State Education Commission with reviewing the demands of the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) teachers and is awaiting the Commission’s recommendations.
Sangma said that the government is eager to resolve the teachers’ issues as soon as possible. However, he acknowledged that the allocation of funds remains a major hurdle. He stated that if adequate funds were available, the problems faced by the teachers could be resolved swiftly.
The Minister also noted that the government is exploring sustainable solutions for the teachers, as simply increasing salaries could lead to recurring financial challenges in the future.
Sangma further urged the striking teachers to return to the classroom for the sake of the students, appealing to them to end their protest.
