Meghalaya Education Minister Rakkam A. Sangma has stated that the government is still deliberating on the demand for the regularization of SSA teachers.
Speaking to the media, Sangma emphasized the importance of adhering to proper guidelines and procedures before making any decisions. He explained that the government is carefully evaluating the demands to avoid any unintended consequences, reiterating that decisions cannot be rushed without thorough consideration.
Regarding the SSA teachers’ demand for 70% reservation in government school teacher recruitment, the minister highlighted that hiring would be based on merit. He noted that while the age limit for applicants has been extended to 40 years to accommodate eligible candidates, selection will ultimately depend on individual qualifications and capabilities.
The minister assured that the government is committed to addressing the challenges faced by SSA teachers in a systematic manner.
